Introduction
Industrial/Organizational (I/O)Psychologists specialize in helping
organizations run more efficiently, competitively and profitably. They do this
by using a problem-solving approach that applies practical scientific
knowledge to aid in solving a wide variety of "real world" work situations and
challenges.
Most qualified I/O Psychologists have a Ph.D. in I/O Psychology and are
members of the American Psychological Association (APA). More than 5,000 of
them are members of the Society for Industrial and Organizational
Psychology (SIOP). Also, most states require that they pass exams and meet other
requirements (e.g., Continuing Education) to be licensed or certified as
psychologists.
